The 3 Yuan (cycles) 9 Luck (periods)?

Before we start on the theme of healthy aging, i would like to share an interesting piece i stumbled upon earlier this year, the 9th period aka 九运。

The ‘Three Cycles and Nine Periods’ passed down from ancient times are said to be a set of theories for predicting the future based on time and space, which can predict natural phenomena and social dynamics on the earth and their impact on people.

《易经》中记载：“天运离卦，九紫离火，离者，万物皆光明也”
《I-Ching》 records: “The heaven destiny of Li hexagram, the Ninth, Purple, Li, Fire period;
2024-2043, everything worldly will become clearer and move towards a brighter & clearer path.”

离Li卦Hexagram:

离卦是指上卦和下卦都是离火的一种卦象，在六十四卦中，
离卦是一种比较吉利的卦象，寓意着火光照耀、太阳升起，光明永无止息地照拂大地。

The Li hexagram means that both the upper hexagram and the lower hexagram represent Li Fire. Among the sixty-four hexagrams, the Li hexagram is more auspicious, implying that the fire shines, the sun rises, and the light never ends that beacons over the earth eternally.

离卦是上离下离的卦名，是《易经》六十四卦第30卦，代号是5:5。
离为火（离卦）附和依托。主卦和客卦都是5卦离卦，卦象是火。这个卦是同卦（下离上离）相叠。

Li hexagram is the name of the hexagram of Upper Li and Lower Li.
It is the 30th hexagram of the sixty-four hexagrams in the "I-Ching", and its code is 5:5.
Li is fire (Li Gua) and supports it. Both the main hexagram and the ‘guest’ hexagram are 5 hexagrams, and the hexagram symbol is fire.
This hexagram is overlapped with the same hexagram (lower Li and upper Li).

Explaining the principle of dependence:

The host and the guest are like two pairs of burning fires, illuminating each other and competing with each other to see whose flame is brighter and who shines longer. The host should try to shine as brightly as possible. When in danger, one must seek connections and find support to be safe. We should grasp the principle of fairness and avoid overly taking advantage of opportunities. We should be aware that ups and downs, life and death are natural principles. Acknowledge destiny and be contented, so that we resort to suffering due to unmet expectations. Dependence should not take advantage of others' danger and use coercion to avoid disaster. Those who rely on the strong should be meek and moderate, and be alert at all times to turn danger into safety. In the above diagram, red represents the line that is in place, and sky blue represents the line that is not in place. There is no correspondence between the lines of Li Gua.

Judging from the above hexagram image of the Li hexagram, the initial and upper lines of the Li hexagram are yang, and the middle line is yin. This is a manifestation of external reality and internal deficiency, just like the temperature of the outer flame is higher than the temperature of the inner flame. The weak internal Li means hollow, which means retreat and vanity. It indicates that some hypocritical people will appear at this time, so you should be cautious when dealing with others. Li also represents the heart. It has been predicted that in the 20 years of the ninth period, the world will undergo earth-shaking changes, and this change will catch people off guard.

New Norm post-pandemic:
The recent CoViD-19 pandemic caused by the new coronavirus was just the beginning, and the real challenges are coming.

How can ordinary people like us follow the trend, take advantage of the trend, grasp the trend, seize the trend, and choose and control our own life direction and career planning in this Ninth period of (离)Li (火)huo? How to seek good blessings and avoid bad misfortunes?

First of all, the attribute of fire is decentralization. The past model of getting rich overnight will no longer exist. In the future, it will enter an era of meager profits. In the real estate market, the demographic dividend regulatory benefits may no longer exist. Everyone’s expectations for investment returns will decline. Don’t expect to double your home purchase in two years. This trend has passed.

Secondly, 2024-2043. The innate Zhen hexagram and the acquired Li hexagram (for a middle-aged woman), the five elements belong to fire. The “fire-related” industry is mainly service-oriented, and the main market of services includes middle-aged women aged 30-60. This group is not only the main audience with consumption power but also the main pillar of society.

Contemplation:

Whichever industry we may be or choose to be in, i feel being in tranquility focusing on the ultimate vision with the unity of knowledge and action matters.

There are many uncertain factors in the future. We should take the initiative to keep up with the trends and not be eliminated through time. The biggest difference between people and animals is that humans can think and predict the future in advance and make preparations. For example, you know it may rain tomorrow, so you will bring an umbrella when you go out in the morning. If you know that this road is blocked, you will change to another road. Animals will not. Only when it rains will animals take shelter from the rain. Only when they are hungry will they look for food. Animals can only be adaptable.

The arrival of the Zhen hexagram means that many unexpected changes need to be actively dealt with. Human beings can plan, actively seek change, and cannot wait for opportunities to come, we create them in a way, that is how we “predict” the future. Even if the future is full of crises and cannot be controlled, we must have the determination to face the difficulties.

Fire not only represents disaster but also represents hope and new life. Everything has two sides. As long as we understand opportunities, maintain good intentions, and use proper means, we will be able to get through it safely, or even seize the opportunity and go with the flow leading to a wonderful life.

From now onwards, I hope more people will start to enhance their exposure, improve their knowledge, cultivate good moral character, and reshape our better future. In the face of various predictions and prophecies, please keep a clear mind, avoid merely listening to one-sided words, analyze facts and predictions objectively, lead your own life, and refrain from overdoing or overly interpreting things.
